East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and their Bluegrass, Old-Time, Country Music Studies has been the leading institution for bluegrass, old-time, and country music in higher education since 1982.
Bluegrass, Old-Time, Country Music Studies is the oldest established program of its kind at any four-year institution with the aim to promote awareness regarding music's value outside of the Appalachian region.
Some of its alumni have won Grammy awards and honors from the IBMA, the Academy of Country Music, and the Country Music Association (CMA).
